Midtown Partners, Inc. through the Project Innovation Afterschool program has partnered with Mississippi Food Network to become a site for their Backpack Food Program. The Backpack Program was designed to meet the needs of hungry children at times when other resources are not available, such as weekends and during school vacations.
Here is how it works:
MFN provides food to the agency/afterschool every two weeks for approximately 40 children.
The students attending Project Innovation Afterschool receive backpacks filled with food to take home weekly on weekends. The food is child-friendly, non perishable and can be easily consumed.
Afterwards, the backpacks are returned on Monday to be filled for the upcoming weekend.
